Day #100 - My Writing Habit '24

Today is day #100 of writing in my journal everyday. Over three months ago, I made the commitment to write at least 100 words in my journal everyday. I've never been consistent with journaling, so it was a struggle at first to build the habit of writing every day. I was able to stick with it, and now it's a part of my daily routine! Journaling is such a great habit and it has so many benefits. I would write down what I did each day, my thoughts, emotions, and prayers. I can't recommend it enough! 🙌

Great job Moses. I think it’s a really good habit to develop, especially at your age.

Lava Eruption 🌋

Lava Eruption 🌋

It was incredible to see the Kilauea eruption. The lava was fountaining hundreds of feet high and it sounded like a jet engine. God's creation is amazing.

Coding Tips

Coding Tips

I’ve been coding since I was 8 years old. Here are a few tips I’d like to share. Learn by doing. I've found the best way to learn a new skill is to apply it to a project. Building a project will help cement your skills and show you that you may not fully understand something. Experience is one of your most valuable assets. You won't gain experience overnight. It takes a lot of time to develop. You will gain experience by building projects, breaking things, and learning how to be a problem-solver. Learn to be a problem-solver. Everything you do as a developer can be thought of as a problem. If you want to be a good developer, learn how to solve problems. The smartest developer is just good at solving problems. Learn skills that suit your goals. When it comes to deciding what technology to learn, your decision should be based on the type of work or project you're doing. If you don't have a specific goal. In my opinion, learning anything related to Blockchain and Web3 will be extremely valuable in the coming years. If you are just getting started, I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with Full-stack development and how websites work Thanks for reading! If you know someone that should read this, please share it!

The Benefits of Working Hard When You're Young

The Benefits of Working Hard When You're Young

I feel like in general, many young people today are missing out on what hard work and good work ethic look like. It seems like they’re mostly encouraged not to think about work or developing a good work ethic until they are out of high school. A good work ethic is a fundamental part of your life, and it's best developed at a young age. I started learning to code when I was 8, and it's significantly paid off. I have a skill that's enabled me to build a startup and a career at 15. Invest in yourself for the future. Set goals for yourself, have high standards, and don't compare yourself to your peers. Young people have freedoms adults do not. Our expenses are low and we have much fewer responsibilities. This is best the time to develop a good work ethic that you’ll benefit from for the rest of your life. Today, we can learn almost anything online (for free), and we have the advantage as young people because we're able to learn things much faster. Apply your work ethic to learning. Lately, I've been super intrigued by crypto and web 3. It's one of the most exciting times in the internet's history, and I've been able to learn so much from people on Twitter. I'm also learning about building a startup. Never stop learning! Thanks for reading! If you know someone that should read this, please share it!

How I Got Into Astrophotography

How I Got Into Astrophotography

I've been fascinated by space since I was pretty young. But the day I realized that most beautiful images of space could be captured by someone in their backyard, it blew my mind. On a cold night in March of last year, I decided that I would try to take a photo of space. After watching several Youtube videos about camera settings, I set my dad's camera on a tripod in our yard and pointed it up at the sky. After a half-hour of taking photos, I noticed a small blurry splotch in my frame. This got me excited. Later, as I was taking down the camera and tripod I thought to myself, "Could that be a nebula?". The next day after reviewing the photos on my computer I noticed three bright stars in the same frame as the blurry splotch. After some research, I found that what I had captured was The Orion Nebula in the constellation Orion. I had never known that something such as a nebula more than a thousand light-years from Earth was possible to photograph! Since then I have continued to hone my Astrophotography skills, practicing on most clear nights that we have. I wanted to give a big thank you to the AstroBackyard YouTube channel where I learned most of everything I now know. It has been an incredible resource for both information and fueling my interest in this hobby. Check out the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/c/AstroBackyard Attached to this post I've included some of my favorite photos from last year and this winter. All of which I captured using a sky tracker, which is a mount that enables the camera to take longer exposures for more detailed images. Yesterday I captured the Orion Nebula for a second time. In the first photo, you can see that the stars have a cool glowing effect caused by passing clouds. This year I'm hoping to photograph some new targets and continue to get better at this amazing hobby!

Welcome to My New Blog

Welcome to My New Blog

Hey guys, welcome to my new blog. I haven't written a blog post in a while, but I'm going to start writing here more frequently. You may remember my first blog post 3 years ago: "Why I Like Coding as a 12 Year Old". I will link that at the bottom. I want to start off by talking about how I built this blog and the Tracker platform. For the past 2 years, my dad and I have been developing a platform for online communities called Tracker. Tracker originated from two Facebook groups that my dad started and managed called Hawaii Tracker and Roseburg Tracker. Over the course of 4-5 years of running both groups (now with tens of thousands of members), he realized that there needed to be an easier way to make each group sustainable. We started Tracker with both Hawaii and Roseburg Tracker as public groups on the platform, but we've recently implemented Private Groups, Family Groups, Blogs, as well as custom domains for each community. We have a lot more features built into Tracker like group email lists and monetization features. With a bunch more on the way. Now my new blog is hosted on Tracker but still on my website. Let me know your thoughts in the comments of this post. Just visit https://blog.moses.dev and create a free account. If you want to check out Tracker visit: https://www.jointracker.com Or read my blog post from 3 years ago: https://medium.com/hackernoon/why-i-like-coding-as-a-12-year-old-cdb19e87d57f
